According to eye-witnesses, the injury came after the unidentified fan threw a bottle of Lucozade at the singer, before flinging a stream of insults about her on-off boyfriend.
In the commotion, Rihanna fell against a shop shutter and grazed her knee.
The injury was deemed serious enough for her to require immediate medical attention, according to sources.
The S&M singer is currently in the capital for London Fashion Week where she presented her first clothing collection for high street behemoth River Island.
