Lover Boy Matchets Man For Refusing To Allow His Daughter Marry Him

AN Ilorin Magistrate’s Court on Thursday remanded a lover boy, Abdullahi Anaruwa for allegedly matcheting one Usman Hussein for refusal to consent his marriage to his daughter.

The accused and his brother, Abdullahi Sheu, now at large, were alleged to have matcheted the victim on the head, robbed him of sum of N50, 000 and left him unconscious in the pool of his blood on March 25, at Adera Village, Bode-Saadu.

According to the charge sheet, when the accused sighted people coming to the scene, they took to their heels and escaped to an unknown destination.

It was said that the accused was still receiving treatment in the hospital while one of the accused, Anaruwa was later arrested by the police.

Police Prosecutor, Inspector Bukky Aina told the court that investigation revealed that the attack on the victim was as a result of his refusal to give the hand of his daughter, Hawau in marriage to the accused.

Aina said that the accused was arraigned on a five-count charge of criminal conspiracy, trespass, causing grievous hurt, attempt culpable homicide and armed robbery.

She said that the alleged offences contravened sections 97, 342, 251, 229 of penal code law and section 1 (2) of armed robbery act cap r11 law of Federation of Nigeria 2004.

She objected to the bail of the accused on ground that the charges against him were not ordinarily bailable.

In his ruling, the presiding Magistrate, Mr Joel Micheal remanded the accused in Federal Prison Yard, Ilorin.

She therefore adjourned the case to April 29 for mention.
